about

It has now been 2 years since the beginning of the WORSHIP label. From low-key and clean soundscapes to harsh, distorted nightmares, straddling the middle-zone on the spectrum of “home listening” to “club ready”, Cultus II celebrates the raw and uncut productions of key artists around the label alongside some new faces.

No track living within the same universe as another, each displays a distinct sound and production style, all loosely falling under the mainline WORSHIP sound. Each track is mastered independent of the others to ensure the track stands true to itself, not answering to the larger compilation.

Resurfacing onto WORSHIP almost 2 years after his debut, Bloodhound diverges his standard palette with a hellish and lean cut on “Bouncer”. Riding waves of intensity and tension, Bloodhound delicately fuses his subtle production & close attention to detail with a more gnarled tone.

"Shot In The Back" comes from WORSHIP mainstay Tracksuit Goth. Obscured vocals crush up against blunt, muted kicks, giving little space to breathe in claustrophobic interludes.

Lethargic drums lead through a strung-out atmosphere of strange and intriguing visuals on “Carbon”, a track that highlights the dark psychedelia of Subshell’s production style, and welcoming him into the WORSHIP fold.

Albino Sound offers some light in the listing with “Animism”, a track that crafts its organic atmosphere around dub influences and a strong percussion-driven groove - displaying a curious, explorative tone, with a scratching and unnerving underbelly.

David Scopes joins on “Sly”, a slick breakbeat infused roller with equal parts intensity & moderation, carefully balancing the track's low-key atmosphere against its restless groove.

“oracl3”, a track that follows on thematically from “bloo6” on Cultus I, marks the return of STIN9 on our anniversary compilation. oracl3, as before, is a departure from STIN9’s CloudCore home - still displaying his archetypal glossy, hyper-synthetic production, but breaking into much heavier, darker territories.
